Susan Wilder is a warm and nurturing counsellor who genuinely loves working with children, youth and families. As an ACA registered counsellor, she enjoys engaging therapeutically with clients of all ages, life stages, celebrations and significant challenges such as trauma and abuse.

Trauma counselling is a specialised skill requiring the practitioner to sit in difficult moments with compassion, consistency and evidence-based knowledge. Susan has had the privilege of developing her response and understanding of trauma while working with children and families in foster care, out of home care, child protection and family violence response, both as a specialist practitioner and through lived experience.

Working in community and educational settings has provided Susan with opportunities to support young people of all abilities facing school refusal, mental health issues and bullying. Counselling support is also helpful for navigating ASD/ADHD diagnosis, NDIS system access, and understanding neurodiversity in schools, families and the wider community.

A natural extension of counselling children and youth for Susan has been working with families. Attachment theory underpins her therapeutic approach with all generations, creating a deeper understanding and appropriate response to each person’s needs. Relationship counselling as well as individual therapy is available via telehealth, with a variety of times to suit any family's schedule.

Motherhood has provided self-reflection and personal growth for Susan, allowing her to walk beside other women in their mental and emotional health. Pre and post-natal support, pregnancy and miscarriage, self-love and self-confidence are all themes she experiences in her role of counselling women.

Susan looks forward to meeting with clients and supporting their healing journey.
